Hakan Erkan graduated from Istanbul Technical University Electrical and Electronics Faculty in 1986 as an Electrical Engineer.

He started his professional career at NETAS Telekomunikasyon A.S. , then moved to the renewable energy sector in 2001 and worked as a manager in various organizations. He became the founder of the Turkish Solar Energy Industrty Association (GENSED), which was established in 2009 and took part in the Board of Directors of the association for a long time. Finally, Arien Elektrik Uretim A.S., an investor company in the Wind and Solar Energy sector, between 2011-2016 and he has been working as the General Secretary at GENSED since 2017.

He is married and has two children.
